At a glance – the finance book that can help with lots of things

Hello, my name’s Andrew Isaacs, I am a divorce lawyer, and this is part of a series of videos – which I am doing all at the same time – about books that will be really helpful to you if you are involved in divorce proceedings.

This is a book which is published by the Family Law Bar Association, and it’s called ‘At a Glance’. It comes out every year and it’s really, really useful. What you’ll find in here is lots of information about things you’ve probably never even thought about. For example it tells you what your life expectancy is at whatever age you are and gender.

It will tell you social security benefits, it will tell you about pension sharing procedures, all sorts of stuff which is really helpful.

If you have to do a bundle for the court – which is a requirement for every court hearing – then this has got the relevant practice direction in it. Now, you may think that “Oh, doing a bundle is quite simple”. You’ll find that it is not. And if you have a read of the practice direction, which is in this book ‘At a Glance’, then that will help you enormously in being able to do it.

Now what you will find is that in divorce nothing is certain. Everything seems to be capable of argument. And if you are in proceedings then this book is really helpful. So what I was saying to you was that you’ll need this. You’ll also need the other books which I’ve referred to which are in my other videos.
